Good to Know
Selcuk is the main gateway to Ephesus, one of the best-preserved ancient cities in the Mediterranean. For many travelers, this area is one of the most important cultural stops in western Turkey.
A visit to Selcuk and Ephesus can include Ephesus Ancient City, the Terrace Houses, the Temple of Artemis, St. John Basilica, and nearby Sirince village. The area is also easy to reach from Izmir Airport and Kusadasi, which makes it practical for both overnight visitors and cruise travelers.
Because Ephesus involves a lot of walking on ancient stone streets, timing matters. Visiting earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon is usually more comfortable, especially in summer.
